For week 1 I was not able to make an actual live stream, I did try but it didn’t work out with my current set up. The stream was lagging too much and it was just not watchable at all so I decided to just stop and try to see if I could fix it. I looked at everything I could and there was nothing I could do because it was due to my hardware not being able to stream the way I wanted too. For this week my stream didn’t go very well but I am still working on things.

Animated Intro Sequence:
When I finally decided on what I wanted to brand myself as I decided that this would be my animated intro sequence. I wanted it to be my stream name initials and then a drawing that I made of a hooded figure, which would be me in a way. I tried to keep with the colors I have decided on. I like it so far I might make changes depending on how the channel changes.
First Official Stream
I finally was able to do my first official stream, it wasn’t one of the ideas I had for my streams but my roommate also wanted to film her cooking for her class so it turned out great. I did just an hour of basically streaming us making dumplings, which turned out well because our friend where able to see us making them even though they are in another state. In the end the stream went well with us just hanging out, our friends would message us personally but watch the stream. Later when I saw the channel it said I had 14 views on that stream video which was very surprising. The next stream will be more of gaming than cooking and I;m going to try to stream 2 times this week in order to catch up on the streams I have missed. I didn’t have any overlay on this and it was just a video stream but I have been working on them and hopefully they will be in use next time.
Stream Current State
My stream has had a lot of setbacks due to my hardware and WiFi which means I haven’t been able to actually stream like I wanted too for a couple of weeks. I finally did a lengthy stream on Friday in order to test out a couple of things and finally got my first stream done. But I have been working on things for my stream like the overlay and thinking about my branding.
Individual Live Stream Ideation & Brainstorm
After thinking about what I could do for a constant live stream I though about a couple of things, for example what I like to do for fun that I would enjoy streaming about and what would people like to watch.
- Playing video games ( on Xbox mostly) but playing through different games.
- Streaming about Kpop, sometimes people want a place they can talk about it I could do that
- Leaving it up to the chat to choose what they want me to do ( I have seen streamers doing similar things where they leave it up to the chat to decide what they are doing.)
That’s really all I could think of because that’s what I mostly spend my time on, playing video games or listening to Kpop. I feel like doing something that I like would make it easier to stream, I have also found a community on other platforms that I have asked to join me in the chat so I feel like they could be very helpful to figure something out.
Music Reaction and Scene Test
I tried having my first live stream on twitch, it definitely didn’t go as planned according to someone watching it was buffering too much they could head the audio but not see anything. I need to find a solution to this and up my streaming hardware. It needs a lot of work and I need to figure out this buffering issue. Since I am new to twitch I couldn’t figure out how to save it on to my channel but I did record it so I just added it to my youtube channel for now. I did go exploring and figured it out afterwards how to save it on my twitch channel.
Streamer Case Study 1
I sent some time watching streamer FatherRageT who when I hoped on his stream was playing a scary game that I didn’t get the name of, but it was interesting. The thing I noticed first about his stream was the engagement he had with his viewers, he had about 200 viewers when I started watching but they were all engaged in the game. His commentary on the game was the most engaging thing about the stream as he played along he would be expressing things about the game and his feelings about it, since it was a scary game. He voiced everything that was on his mind as he played, his frustration with it, his excitement, and even his need of using the restroom. At one point he did leave the stream to go to the restroom but there was a surprise when he came back, his roommate was waiting for him in the closet and because he was so busy engaging with the viewers he was severely scared that he threw his mouse.
On the other side of looking at his set up he had a normal set up, it looked like he had 2 screens one with the game and the other with the chat going. He didn’t have the chat on his screen like other streamers I have seen but they had them so they can personally see it. He did have a camera on him with minimum lighting mostly just coming from the screens since it was a scary game, the ambient needed to match. He used a microphone and a separate head set for sound, he didn’t use a green screen just had a camera pointing at himself as he engaged in the stream. Overall it looked like a simple set up just with slightly higher quality camera and mic.
After his stream ended I did stumble upon something I haven’t seen until now which was a vtuber (virtual youtube) it was very interesting to watch a anime character be the twitch streamer. There is a real person behind there but you would never know their real face and I found that super interesting, for someone like me who hates being on camera for any reason at all it gave me a little hope to be able to stream. I even started looking into how they do these avatars to see if I can actually use it to start streaming for this class instead of myself being on camera.
I Wish I Would Have Known Tutorial
This was my first try with OBS I still need to work on the lay out and my set up I might need a little help on it so I will be looking up more on it. I also was away from my set up for most of the week unable to record it, I will work more on this.
